HISTORICAL NOTE
The Apostolic Vicariate of Harar was erected by the Apostolic Constitution “Quo in Aethiopia” March 25, 1937, with territory detached from the vicariate Apostolic of the Galla, which had been established May 4, 1846.
EXTENT
The Vicariate Apostolic of Harar comprises East and West Hararghe zones and Fentale and Boset woredas of East Shewa in Oromiya Region; Harari Region Provisional Administration of Dire Dawa; Somali Region with the exception of Afder and Liben Zones; Amibara woreda of Afar Region.
