The Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Commission (ECC-SDCO) has been at the forefront of implementing impactful Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WaSH) programs nationwide. Through its diocesan branches and partner congregations, ECC-SDCO addresses critical gaps in access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene Practice, especially in underserved rural communities.
Objective
The core objective of ECC-SDCO’s WaSH intervention is to enhance access to safe drinking water, ensure the availability of adequate sanitation facilities, promote good hygiene practices, and contribute to improved community health in its target areas. The program emphasizes community-driven solutions to address water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges.
Scope
The WaSH intervention is a holistic approach that goes beyond providing clean drinking water, adequate sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion to improve public health. It also fosters sustainable practices that contribute to social and economic development and help mitigate the impacts of climate change
