Ethiopian Catholic Bishops’ Conference Meets with Brother Amilcare

On August 12, 2025 the Ethiopian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, led by its President, His Eminence Cardinal Abune Birhaneyesus, met with Brother Amilcare Boccuca, a member of the Christian Brothers community and director of the Solidarity LaSalle Organization, at the Conference’s General Secretariat.

Brother Amilcare, known for his significant contributions to the Ethiopian Catholic University (ECUSTA), has played a vital role in coordinating international partner institutions to support development projects, including the construction of teaching facilities, laboratories, and other infrastructure.

During the meeting, His Eminence Cardinal Abune Birhaneyesus expressed deep gratitude for the Christian Brothers Association’s long-standing contribution to education in Ethiopia from primary schools to higher learning institutions. He thanked Brother Amilcare on behalf of the Ethiopian Catholic Church for his exceptional work in mobilizing support from the international community and donors for ECUSTA’s growth.

Brother Kasu Fantaye, President of ECUSTA, praised Brother Amilcare’s unwavering dedication to fundraising, development initiatives, and infrastructure enhancement. He highlighted Brother Amilcare’s pivotal role in strengthening ties between the Ethiopian Catholic Church and the Italian Episcopal Conference.
