Re-registered under Proclamation 1113/2019, CCE operates through 13 diocesan branch offices across the country. Position Title: Food Security Officer
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, National Office (with frequent field travel)
Reports To: Food Security and Humanitarian Coordinator
Employment Term: Three-year term, renewable based on performance

JOB SUMMARY

The Food Security Officer provides essential technical support in the design, implementation, and monitoring of food security and livelihood interventions. The incumbent works to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities by ensuring that agricultural and income-generating activities are technically sound, environmentally sustainable, and rooted in the Dignity of the Human Person.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Quality: Lead the technical design of food security projects, ensuring they meet Sphere Standards and the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
  • Technical Support: Provide expert guidance to 13 diocesan offices on climate-smart agriculture and sustainable livelihood models.
  • MEAL Integration: Collaborate with the MEAL unit to use digital tools (KoBo/Power BI) for tracking household resilience and nutritional status.
  • Stewardship: Monitor project inputs and budgets to ensure resources are used as a “Sacred Trust” for the poor and marginalized.
  • Representation: Participate in the National Food Security Cluster to align CCE’s work with the national humanitarian response.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Plant Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in food security programming within an NGO or faith-based environment.
  • Skills: Proficiency in IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) and digital data collection tools.
  • Values: Deep commitment to Catholic Social Teaching (CST) and the principles of Solidarity, Subsidiarity, and the Common Good.
  • Leadership: Strategic thinker with the capacity to offer innovative solutions in challenging humanitarian contexts.

    THE ROLE: We are seeking a highly organized, tech-savvy, and mission-aligned Program Assistant. This role is ideal for a professional with exceptional communication skills and a passion for partnership management.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: Degree in Communications, Information Technology, Management, or a related field.
    • Language: Native-level fluency in Amharic and professional-level English (Written/Spoken). Knowledge of Oromifa, Tigrigna, or Somali is a significant asset.
    • Technical Skills: Proven knowledge of project management software, advanced Microsoft Office 365, and digital communication tools.
    • Experience: Previous experience in the Catholic Church or a faith-based institution is highly preferred.

    Position Title: Finance Head

    THE ROLE: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Head to lead and manage the overall financial operations of our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, and compliance functions while ensuring strong financial control and transparency. The Finance Head will play a key strategic role by providing financial guidance to senior management, supporting decision-making processes, and ensuring efficient utilization of organizational resources.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Education: MA/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant work experience in finance and accounting. At least 3 years of experience in a senior or managerial position. Experience in NGO/Private sector/Church institution is an advantage. Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
    • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management standards. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Strong financial analysis and reporting skills and Knowledge of tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
    • Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Amharic is required.

      THE ROLE: We are seeking a qualified and motivated Finance Assistant to support the financial management of the Returnee Project. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial recording, budget monitoring, and compliance with donor regulations.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Education: BA Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
      • Experience: 1–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in NGO or migration-related projects.
      • Technical Skills: Good knowledge of accounting software, Peachtree, Understanding of donor-funded project financial management, and MS Excel.
      • Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Amharic is required.

      THE ROLE: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Officer for the European Reintegration Project. He/she will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring activities that support the sustainable return, reintegration, and social inclusion of returnees.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • Education: MA/MSc/BA/BSc Degree in Sociology/Social Work, Economics, Agricultural Economics, or any other related field with
      • Experience: Minimum of five years in organizational development, capacity building, knowledge management, and preferably in NGO or migration-related projects.
      • Technical Skills: Experience working with vulnerable groups and returnees is an advantage. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Good computer skills (MS Office).
      • Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English. Proficiency in Amharic is required, and it’s preferable Local Language.
